Topazery Jewelry Now Indulging the Antique Jewelry Industry’s and Hollywood’s Art Deco Demands

Following this past summer’s New York Antique Jewelry & Watch Show, Topazery Jewelry has shifted its antique jewelry inventory to prominently showcase the Art Deco trends that emerged from the exhibition. In the process, the online antique jewelry boutique has noted that the Art Deco trend is spilling over into Hollywood, where celebrities are also embracing 1920s era jewelry pieces.
When the 6th Annual New York Antique Jewelry & Watch Show wrapped up in late July, a few clear trends had emerged, with one of the top ones being Art Deco jewelry. A press release issued by the show declared, “Also featured this year were items ranging from all categories of jewelry such as cameos, tennis bracelets, rings, decorative necklaces, brooches, gemstones and pendants from various time periods including the Renaissance to Art Deco eras.”
In its coverage of the show, Antiques and the Arts Online prominently featured ex hibitors showcasing Art Deco rings and other antique jewelry pieces, all of which “garnered much attention.” That interest has been inundating Hollywood as well. When Justin Timberlake popped the question of his longtime celebrity girlfriend Jessica Biel, for example, he did so with a self-designed diamond engagement ring in the Art Deco style. That choice obviously wowed for she said yes and the former Miss Biel is now a Mrs. Timberlake. When fashion stylist to the stars Rachel Zoe recently unveiled her new jewelry collection, it too was full of Art Deco statement pieces.
Dating back to the 1920s, “Art Deco jewelry complimented the flamboyant and playful attitude of the day,” Topazery spokesperson Jan Walden explains. Fed up with the constraints being placed on them by society and the Great Depression, women started to break the mold. Walden speculates that the current recession may be fueling the resurgence in Art Deco jewelry.
“Forced into a self-impos ed non-spending mode for too long, I think women are ready to start b uying bling again,” she says. “The dazzling jewelry being produced during the Art Deco era featured bold, bright colors and straight lines that sharply contrasted with the jewelry of the previous restrictive periods women were yearning to leave behind.”
Antique jewelry boutique Topazery.com is now carrying over two dozen Art Deco rings, bracelets, crosses and earrings to help today’s women do the same thing. Among them is an old European cut diamond engagement ring with a square top plate in the same vein as Jessica Biel’s custom engagement ring.
