AGS Laboratories Diamond Certification(American Gem Society)

AGS Laboratories is among the best known and well respected diamond grading laboratories in the world. AGS Labs have pioneered the development of the first scientific system that evaluates how well a diamond has been cut. Throughout the world, AGS Laboratories has been acclaimed as an innovator because of the extensive research and development that was and continues to be devoted to how well a diamond is cut.

One of the distinguishing factors that separates AGS Laboratories from other diamond grading laboratories is that the mission of AGS Laboratories is one of consumer protection. As a part of the American Gem Society, a group of over 1,200 retail jewelers in North America founded by Robert Shipley in 1934, AGS Laboratories shares the important mission of the Society of consumer protection, adherence to the highest ethical standards in conducting business in the jewelry industry, and continuing gemological education for jewelers.

The AGS Laboratories offers a number of diamond grading reports to suit the specific needs of diamond manufacturers and their customers, retail jewelers and the retail consumer. The AGS reports are designed to present the necessary diamond quality information in a clear, concise and complete presentation. The AGS Laboratories reports include:

The Diamond Quality Document

The Diamond Quality® Document is AGS Laboratories’ premier diamond grading report, The Diamond Quality® Document provides a complete diamond grading analysis of the 4Cs: the diamond’s Cut Grade, Color Grade, Clarity Grade, and Carat Weight. Included in the Diamond Cut Grade is information on the diamond’s light performance, proportions, polish, and symmetry. The Diamond Quality® Document is the industry’s only document that offers a cut grade for Round Brilliant, Princess, Emerald, and Oval shaped diamonds—and more diamonds are coming online soon. The Diamond Quality® Document is known in the diamond industry as “the” diamond grading report for Ideal Cut diamonds, the highest grade a diamond can achieve by AGS Laboratories.
The Diamond Quality Report

AGS Laboratories’ new proportion-based Diamond Quality® Report is based upon the patented AGS light performance system. The report offers a complete grading analysis of the 4Cs: Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat Weight, and features word descriptors ranging from Ideal to Very Poor in order to give a clear, concise explanation of the diamond’s quality. The Diamond Quality® Report is the gold standard in proportion-based grading reports.
The Diamond Quality Analysis

The AGS Laboratories Diamond Quality® Analysis is a convenient pocketsize diamond grading report for diamonds weighing under one carat. The Diamond Quality® Analysis offers a complete diamond grading analysis of diamond Cut Grade, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight. Instead of showing a diamond plot, the Diamond Quality Analysis features the added protection of having the report’s unique number microscopically laser inscribed on the girdle of the diamond.

The Diamond Quality Certificate

The Diamond Quality® Certificate is new diamond quality report prepared by the AGS Laboratories exclusively for American Gem Society retail jewelers. It is a Diamond Quality Document plus a guarantee from the participating American Gem Society member store. Essentially, a grading report is an opinion of the laboratory issuing the report. Although the grading report is an expert opinion it is not a guarantee from a legal perspective. Thus, the Diamond Quality® Certificate is a stronger legal statement from the issuing retailer of the diamond’s quality characteristics.

The Diamond Quality® Certificate is your assurance of a quality diamond backed by a member of the American Gem Society. The Diamond Quality® Certificate is a guarantee – a guarantee of authenticity and quality, certifying the cut, color, clarity, and carat weight of the diamond. Available only through American Gem Society retail members, the Diamond Quality® Certificate was created to further differentiate American Gem Society professionals, while providing you with a greater reassurance in the quality characteristics of the diamond you are considering.

The Diamond Quality® Certificate is authenticated and validated by a diamond professional – either a Registered Jeweler, Certified Gemologist, or Certified Gemologist Appraiser. Their commitment to the tenets of the American Gem Society – Proven Ethics, Knowledge, and Consumer Protection – is your assurance of quality and value.
