A recent meeting of the Russian Association of Diamond Manufacturers, held in Smolensk, discussed a number of problematic issues affecting the members of the Association. Such issues included the simplification of procedures for importing, exporting and the commercial trafficking of diamonds, the recovery of VAT in diamond transactions, the domestic market and financing the lapidary industry in Russia.
Yuri Okoyomov, Vice President of Alrosa, headed the diamond giant’s delegation in the meeting, while others participating in the meeting included the President of the Russian Diamond Manufacturers Association, the head of the Gokhran, and various governmental ministers and deputies.
